Even in Nevada, slot machines were merely a curiosity. Even the largest casino contained no more than a few hundred machines. They were there to entertain the browsers, while the serious gambling was conducted at the tables.
A couple of things happened in the 1960s and ’70s that changed the attitudes of both the casino executives and the players. Electro-mechanical machines were developed by pinball-machine builder Bally Manufacturing which permitted many more payoffs than the mechanical machines could accommodate.
And the Bally machines came complete with an enlarged ‘hopper,’ or coin storage unit, that could hold up to 2,500 coins. In addition, the Bally machines could accept more than one coin at a time, which allowed the players to insert up to five coins on one pull of the handle.
When casinos were legalized in Atlantic City, riverboats in the Midwest and on Indian reservations across the U.S., slot machines became the game of choice.
Sound effects, special lighting, music and more frequent payouts drew more and more players to the slot machines. Players could choose from three-, four-, and five-reel machines, and in 1980, Bally engineered a group of machines that could be linked together to create a giant jackpot.
Ironically, this development would fuel the growth of Bally’s chief competitor, IGT, which developed the ‘life-changing’ million dollar jackpots now commonplace in systems like ‘Megabucks,’ ‘Quartermania,’ and ‘Dollars Deluxe.’
Today, there are dozens of slot manufacturers around the world. Australia’s Aristocrat, Japan’s Universal and Sigma, Europe’s Novomatic, and many companies based in the United States, slot machines are often designed for specific markets.
In Australia, Aristocrat produces video slot machines that include intricate graphics and complicated payouts for a very sophisticated slot player. In Japan, pachinko and pachisuro parlors reward players with prizes rather than cash.
American players vary according to the area in which they play. In Las Vegas and Atlantic City, mature slot players turn more frequently to video poker, where they feel they have some control over their wins or losses. In other, newer, jurisdictions, the simpler the machine, the better.
But the fact remains that slot machines are becoming increasingly popular, and slot manufacturers are producing more attractive machines to entice increasingly selective slot players.

Help answer the question about Pachinko
Rust-oleum silver or Krylon metallic silver for my pachinko machine's trim?I have an 1950-ish Heiwa pachinko machine, and am working on the plastic trim (it has chrome-like edges). Which paint is best for this: Rust-oleum silver or Krylon metallic silver, or is there another paint for this? Will either damage the plastic? Or, is there someone that could do this for me?
Thanks everyone, for their answers.

slots all have a microprocessor – they are designed for the long term to give the casino a profit. They do pay out eventually – but whatever they pay out rest assured they are making more money then they pay out
the luck involved when people win is just simply being in the right place at the right time. there is certainly no skill involved
all slot machines are dependent upon the computer chip inside to determine when to pay out and when to keep the money, this is why casinos love slot players because the few that do win, are winning so the casino can stay in business, and the casinos dont feel like they lost to anyone that has an edge over them or has it figured out, because they didnt beat the house, they just had the luck of being at the slot machine when its time to pay out…………..
Slots usually have around a 15% house edge over the long term, they are efficient ways to beat the masses out of their money, but for every thousand to million people that play a slot machine, someone wins a JACKPOT, and the casino doesn't mind that, it keeps people coming back because the dream is still alive!!!!

My favorite is Triple Diamond, but I play Video Poker to build my stake back up when low. I don't play video slots anymore but the funnest for me was Money Storm, and Cops and Donuts. Good Luck to you!

its like a ranking system it keeps tarck of how much you play and how much you win it kinda pointless unless you ar into that kinda thing if you gamble in a casino they have them there as well and use them to build points and get free stuff. the place that has the machine should have cards but they don't have to carry them its like a memory card for your home system

if you can find the model number or the game name that would be helpful. also you could try checking the axle for gunk it may be having trouble spinning. though I'm not sure I have never seen an OE message.

First ask if slot machines are legal in your state, or county or city? He may need a license to have one. But yes you do, as he asked you and you said you would rather not. He didn't tell you he was getting one only that he wanted one. Now the big question is how to deal with the damage that has been done. The other issue here is that he was not where he was suppose to be and that is one that needs confronting before anything else. Unfortunately we live in a society where a man makes decisions based on his peers and the showing of machismo in his rash decision. In other words they feel it is their money and they can spend it as they feel they should. Sure if he was single but he is not. Since you work than ask him about a purchase that you are going to make with your own money and see his reaction to that. It is something that if you both do not set spending limits it can get out of hand. I remember my brother in law went out and bought a brand new truck, something in the amount of $40,000 and never discussed it with his wife, they are now divorced. Who handles the bills? That would be the one that would know how much one can spend on their own without consulting their partner. The amount can be anywhere from $20 to a $100 or more, and anything over that call your spouse. A gf of mine was put on a budget by her husband of $20. a month anything more than that she has to call her hubby to discuss it. The reasoning was that she would buy things on sale with credit cards all the time and than it would sit in closet or under counter collecting dust. Why when someone marries does the money they earn still theirs and not ours? Many do not realize that when you marry that marriage it is assumed that couples care enough about their partner to make decisions together. Otherwise why get married?
